VisIC D³GaN Technology for EV Traction Inverters
January 9,2026 | Beijing, China
At this China press conference, VisIC Technologies presented its latest progress in D³GaN™ power device technology for electric vehicle traction inverters, highlighting both technology maturity and growing engagement with global automotive OEMs and Tier-1 partners.
The presentation outlines VisIC’s strategy for integrating D-mode GaN into hybrid and battery electric vehicle platforms, addressing the industry’s key challenges of reliability, scalability, and efficiency at high power levels. With a focus on automotive-grade robustness, VisIC demonstrated how D³GaN™ overcomes the inherent trade-offs of conventional E-mode GaN and silicon-based solutions, enabling high current capability, low switching losses, and stable operation under extreme inverter stress conditions.
Technical results presented include high-current GaN dice exceeding 100A, scalable module concepts supporting inverter power levels from 80 kW to 350 kW, and measured inverter efficiencies above 99.5% in real dynamometer testing. The presentation also highlights VisIC’s superior performance in critical traction inverter events such as inductive load switching and active short-circuit conditions, supported by independent testing and academic collaboration.
In addition to technology performance, the presentation provides a business update on VisIC’s expanding presence in the Chinese automotive ecosystem, including active development programs, platform evaluations, and long-term production roadmaps. These activities reflect VisIC’s commitment to supporting next-generation 400V and 800V EV architectures with reliable, high-efficiency GaN power solutions.
This session reinforces VisIC’s position as a key enabler of advanced traction inverter designs, accelerating the adoption of GaN technology in high-volume electric vehicle applications.
