- Session IS07.1: Utilizing D³GaN capabilities to optimize Automotive Traction Inverter performance and costs
- Session IS13.5: D³GaN High Power Module next level in BEV Inverter Efficiency
Meet us at APEC 2026, where Hans Winter will present a next-generation BEV traction inverter based on 650V D-mode GaN HEMT D³GaN™ technology from VisIC. The solution targets SiC-class performance at silicon-level cost, combining ultra-low switching losses, robust direct gate control, and scalable current capability for high-performance automotive inverters.
Developed in collaboration with NXP and AVL, the dedicated D³GaN gate driver features reduced PWM dead time, real-time GaN-specific Vgs monitoring, and advanced overcurrent and short-circuit protection strategies to meet ASIL-D requirements. Dynamometer testing demonstrates >99.5% peak efficiency and measurable improvements in EV driving-cycle efficiency, supporting longer range, improved performance, and a more sustainable electric mobility future.
